The Hill Street church of Christ is a bible based church that emphasizes New Testament
Christianity and desires to unite all Christians into one body (1 Corinthians 1:10). We are a
growing friendly church, and we take every effort to make visitors and members feel
welcome and loved. Worship services generally open with a brief welcome and several
announcements followed by a prayer from one of the members. The congregation then
sings songs before the Lord’s Supper is observed. More songs follow the Lord’s supper
before a sermon is delivered from God’s word. All congregational singing is done without
instrumental accompaniment.

The Lord’s Supper is observed every Sunday just as they did in New Testament times
(Acts 20:7), by the partaking of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine (1 Corinthians 11:
23-29). It is a highlight of the week to come together on Sunday to commemorate Christ’s
death and celebrate His promised return.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their Bibles and follow along throughout the study (2
Timothy 2:15). At the end of the sermon, an opportunity is offered for anyone who desires
to respond to Christ’s invitation to follow Him (Matthew 11:28-30), or wants the prayers of
the church for healing, forgiveness, strength, or comfort to overcome strife in their life. Our
worship service last about an hour and a half and concludes with a song and a final
prayer.

We believe that the New Testament is the only rule for faith and practice in religious
matters (2 Timothy 3:17; 2 peter 1:3) and that God’s Word must authorize all that is done
in Christian worship (Colossians 3:17; Revelation 22:18, 19). We also believe that Jesus is
the son of God (John 20:30, 31), that the bible is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16, 17) and
that Christ will return to take His followers home to God (1 Corinthians 15:24). We believe
that the bible teaches that we are saved by learning of Jesus, faith in Jesus, repentance
of sin, confession of Jesus, and baptism into Jesus (John 6:44,45; John 3:16; Mark 16:16;
Acts2:38; Romans 10:9,10).

We hope that this brief introduction will help you understand what we believe and we
welcome you to join us in the worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
